Fig works with OnFido (our secure identity verification partner) to help us with identity verification.
Here's a step-by-step guide of what the identity verification process looks like. You'll need a Canadian government-issued ID and your phone handy:
- First, you'll see a request to choose your document type. (Note: The selected document must be from a Canadian source)
Current list of supported documents:- Canadian Passport
- Driver's License
- Provincial ID
- Permanent Residence Card
- Review the brief directions for handing off the OnFido ID verification to your mobile device. A mobile device is required at this stage. Select "Get secure link" to move to the next step.
Note: if you're already using your phone, you'll move to step 4 automatically. - You will have three options of how to continue on your mobile device:
- Scan QR code
- Get a link via SMS text message
- Copy OnFido link
Choose your preferred method to hand off the transaction.
- Once handed off to your phone, you will be prompted to take a photos of the front and back of your ID, depending on the document you may only require the front.
- After the front and back of your ID are scanned and checked, you will be prompted to complete a facial video recording for comparison to your documents.
When you select "Start recording", you will be requested to allow access to your camera and microphone, this is required at this stage. - If all uploads are completed successfully, your mobile device should now say "Uploads Successful" and your computer should let you know what documents have been uploaded, and you can now submit your documents. If completing the process on mobile, you will see a completion message and move to the next step of the application.
FAQ's
Why did my ID verification fail?
- Fig aims to compare the information from your application exactly as it appears on your ID, if one or more of these pieces of information is not a match, we may not be able to verify your identity.
